The year one staff would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We look forward to a fun filled 2014!

Jolly Jingles and Christmas Party

Wow what a fantastic day we have had.  Jolly Jingles the Christmas clown came in the morning and the children thought he was hilarious!
In the afternoon we had our Christmas party with party food and games.  We all had a lovely time and the children enjoyed wearing their crowns which they bought with their Investors In Pupils money.
Here are a few photos to show you the fun we have enjoyed today!

Monday 25 November 2013

Today, 1M have been learning about shadows in Science.  Here we are drawing around our friends shadows with chalk.

Have a look at some of the fun we had during languages week.  In year one, our language was French.  We tasted baguette, brie and chocolate crepes.  We learnt some of the names of fruits, colours, animals and body parts.  We all answered the register with Bonjour!

Friday 15 November 2013

A huge thank you to all of you that supported Children In Need with us this year.  The children had a wonderful time dressing up and decorating biscuits.
Being a hero for the day is great fun!
Mrs Mee and Miss Farrar enjoyed dressing up too!

REMINDERS!

P.E
Our P.E day is now a Monday but children need to have their kit in school all of the time.  We have a P.E specialist working with us this half term to teach the children some specific skills.

Punctuality
There has been a real problem with lateness in year one so far this year.  Please remember that the school day starts at 8:55am.  We do phonics at 9:00am so children miss out on their learning if they are repeatedly late to school.  The school day finishes at 3:20pm and children should be collected on time.  If a different adult is collecting your child at the end of the day then please inform one of the teaching assistants in the morning.

Thank you

Mrs Mee and Miss Farrar
Hello everyone!
Welcome to the second half of the autumn term and the important run up to Christmas!

Firstly can we thank you in advance for all your contributions for school.  We are busy raising money by selling poppies and next week is Children In Need and Operation Christmas Child.

Our Children In Need theme this year is 'Be a Hero'!  We can't wait to see what the children will dress up as!  The school council will also be selling wrist bands starting on Monday 11th November at morning break times.

Our homework for this half term is 'What will you be when you grow up?'.  We want to know what the children would like to be when they are older.  How they present this information is up to them, they might use pictures, paintings, posters or a computer.

For those of you planning ahead, our Christmas productions will be on Thursday 12th December at 10:00am and 2:00pm.

We have also sent out a 'reading volunteer' letter for this half term.  A big thank you to all of the parents and carers that helped us last half term and we hope to see you again if possible!

Thank you
Mrs Mee and Miss Farrar

Reminders

Here are just a few reminders for you.

Homework

This half terms homework is a ' Me Box'.  We want to know all about your child and their hobbies/interests/life outside school.  Homework is due in on Monday 14th October.

P.E

Our P.E lesson is on a Tuesday but kit needs to always be in school.  Please ensure all kit if named, we have already had confusion with clothes with no name in them.  Only small stud earrings please.  Children are expected to get themselves unchanged for P.E and then dressed again afterwards.  Please help them to perfect these skills at home.

Attendance and Punctuality
The school day starts at 8:55am.  The cloakroom door will be locked at 9:00am.  If you arrive after this time, please go to the school office to sign your child in.  The school day ends at 3:20pm.  Doors will be locked at 3:25pm.  Please go to the office to collect your child if you are late.  Please phone to inform the office if you have been delayed.  Good attendance will be rewarded on a weekly basis using our stamper charts!

Reading Books

Reading books are changed on Mondays and Thursdays.  The children are responsible for getting their books out of their bags and putting them in the box.

Thank you

Investors in Pupils

Year One worked so hard on their 'Investors' targets last half term. As a reward some of the children were able to have a dip in Mrs Kelly's grab box for a treat.
New targets are now being set for this final term. Keep up the hard work Year One and you will have coloured in your spiders in no time at all!!
