Our work
with Investors in Pupils targets is designed to raise children’s understanding
of the wider world, develop key skills and encourage children to set and work
towards their own achievements. This half term, in year one, we will all be
working towards the achievement of the same target.
I
will complete 10 minutes of reading, writing or maths practise at home every
weekday evening.
There are
several reasons why we have picked this target
1.
To
encourage those children who already want to/do practise their skills at home –
we want them to see how proud we are of their efforts.
2.
To encourage those children who are more resistant
to adults attempts to get them to complete tasks at home.
3.
To allow you to see the progress your children has
made and highlight any areas they may need further support with in preparation
for parents evening.
4.
Most importantly to allow them to build up their
bank of basic skills and grow in confidence in their own ability.
Each children has 18 spots
to colour on their target frog and they will achieve a spot each time they hand
in their reading diary showing a comment from an adult saying how they spent
their ten minutes. It could be ten
minutes with their reading book, ten minutes working on their phoneme packs (to
follow), ten minutes practising counting in different ways, ten minutes of
adding numbers, ten minutes of storytelling, ten minutes helping you write a
shopping list, practising handwriting, counting coins in your purse, the list
really is endless.
We hope you will see the
value in supporting your child with this target and will help them to achieve
their reward for colouring all their spots by the end of this half term.
Thank you
for your support
Miss
Farrar and Miss Atwal
