In Science we are learning all about plants and growing.  So far we have looked at trees, flowers all over the school grounds and we have done some planting.  We planted cress and were surprised that they grew without any soil.  We also planted runner beans; we were amazed how fast they grew once they got going!  We have looked carefully at the roots.  Have a look at a few of our beans.

Zoolab

Wow, we had such a fantastic time when Barry from Zoolab came to visit us.  He showed us all sorts of different animals and told us about how they behaved in Springtime.
We met Deidre the African Snail, Tracey the Tarantula, Michelle the Millipede, Sophie the Snake and Rita the Rat.
We were able to touch or hold most of the animals - Tracey preferred to stay in her box.
Have a look at some of our photos, we were really brave!

Sending a huge THANK YOU to all of the grown ups that spent their Thursday afternoon with 1M during our visit to Tesco as part of the Farm to Fork scheme.
All the children had a wonderful time.  We saw the warehouse, the fridge, the freezer, the bakery and the pizza counter.  All sorts of different foods were tried and we even had two pizzas to take back to school (we ate them during golden time on Friday!).
We wouldn't have been able to go without all the help so thank you again, we just about survived the weather!

Congratulations to Callum, Megan, Abigail, Jacob and Elena who have been awarded a scarf for their teddy as part of our R.E.D.T.E.D scheme.
They have all read at least 3 times a week for 22 weeks!  A huge achievement and a great big well done!  Keep it up so you can have your treat with Mrs Kelly and Mrs Slack!

Mrs Mee is also sending her apologies to Iain who should have been part of this group but got mistakenly overlooked.
Iain you are still part of this super team and you are on track for your special treat!

Today in Design and Technology we have been completing our fruit project!
Last week we designed a fruit salad or a fruit kebab.  We made a list of the fruits we would use and the utensils that we would need.
Today we made our final products!  We chose our fruit, washed and peeled it and then used a sharp knife to cut it up.  We used a 'bridge' grip to cut our fruit safely.
Have a look at some of the photos to show some of our final products, the making and the eating!
