Last week was Discovery Week in Rise Park!  We had a wonderful time and we were set the task to set up a colony on the moon!
First we decided which essential items we would pack in our suitcases.
Next we decided on what our job would be when we arrived on the moon, our choices varied from police officers to dinner ladies!
Then we built some accommodation so we had somewhere safe to stay (thank you for all the recycled materials).
Finally we planned a healthy meal so we wouldn't be too hungry!
Have a look at some of the photos of the activities that we have been doing.

This week in Math's we are learning about telling the time.  We are starting with o'clock and then we will be moving onto half past.
Today we made our own clocks which we will be using throughout the week.
Please help us to keep telling the time at home!

Over the past two weeks we have been reading 'What the Ladybird Heard' by Julia Donaldson.  We made our own ladybirds and we have been doing some speaking and listening activities.  Here we are listening to 'Little April Showers' and a selection of sounds around the house.  We were good at guessing the different objects.  Afterwards we used adjectives to make a list of all the different sounds that we could hear.

In History we have been learning about Mary Anning.
She was born in 1799 and lived in Dorset.
She was famous for finding fossils of prehistoric animals.
We have been making our own fossils at school using shells and clay.
Have a look at some of the work we have been doing.
If you want to find out more about Mary Anning then you can watch a video on this website.

Today we have been learning to recognise coins.  We found lots of coins hidden around our classroom and we recorded them on our sheet.  We are beginning to look at adding together coins and it would be really helpful if you could practice with your children at home.

R.E.D.T.E.D
A huge congratulations to the first group of children who have achieved their bear from our R.E.D.T.E.D reading scheme.
All these children have read at least 3 times a week and their grown ups have written in their home school diary.  They are now working towards a scarf for their bear.
Reading is extremely important to extend all of the children so please continue to encourage your children at home.
